Please read the ISM Instructions on how best to fit these types of saddles
The Prolog builds on the success of their Podium and Breakaway saddles. The ISM design team kept the longer length and narrower hamstring section to allow for more forward and rearward body movement.
Compared to its cousins, however, the Prolog uses the highest level of padding for a super plush ride. This makes the Prolog a great choice for triathletes, who often ride with very thin padded shorts. They also integrated the sloped front arms to cut down on superficial chaffing on the inner thigh. The biggest change is ISM added more foam and gel padding to soften the ride. Great for distance cycling and triathlon.
Introduced in 2011 and all about performance! ISM’s winning design allows for increased hip rotation, thus decreasing a rider’s aerodynamic drag and opens the diaphragm for easier breathing. Riders report an increase in wattage due to the more aggressive positioning. Sloped front arms provide extra relief to the superficial perineal space. From the start gate to the finish line, you will slice through the competition.
About the ISM brand
Ideal Saddle Modification™ is the brainchild of Steve Toll, an avid cyclist and swimmer living in Tampa, Florida. In the winter of 1997, following yet another painful bike ride with his wife, Laura, Steve sketched out a design for a seat he thought could eliminate, or at least reduce, the discomfort most riders experience on a traditional bike saddle. By 1999, with some assistance from his family, the concept was patented. That patent marks a significant milestone for an industry that hasn’t seen a major saddle change in years. Over the years, ISM's™ seats have helped propel Ironman wins, Olympic medals, Road Racing podium appearances, and countless age group victories. Pros and amateurs alike are finding riding and competing enjoyable again due in large part to riding the world's most comfortable bike seat.
About Performance Saddles
Performance saddles are narrower than the models designed for shorter ride comfort. They're intended for riders who have a committed riding style with weight on hands and feet so they're narrower and lighter. High tech padding materials and flexible body designs keep your pressure points comfortable and lightweight chassis components keep the weight down. Most have some kind of ergonomic design to reduce pressure on nerves and allow unrestriced blood flow to your sensitive areas. Womens models have a wider design to suit their naturally wider pelvis. Saddle widths vary across the ranges from narrow (upto 130mm), medium (upto 138mm) to wide (upto 146mm). Narrower saddles are the popular choice for longer distance riders as they do not cause the hips to be placed in an unnatural position. Wider saddles will often feel comfortable initially due to their greater surface area but then progressively decrease in comfort as the miles increase, the correct choice of saddle is a case of getting the balance between initial comfort and overall comfort.
