The TR60 is Shimano’s top end triathlon shoe designed to offer all that a top dog should. The low profile carbon composite soles are super stiff which means all your power is going where you want it to. Slipping your feet into the TR60s, even from new, is a pleasure thanks to the Rovenica ultra-fine synthetic leather and mesh uppers.
Getting into these shoes is quick and easy thanks to a large single strap with a notch to keep the uppers open and a rear loop. The single strap set-up uses a reverse closure design, and while we had no issues with them hitting the crank arms, there’s scope to cut them down if you do. Using a single strap set-up doesn’t secure your foot in the same way as some shoes, but we got on well with it, and liked the fact that the space at the front of the shoes provided ample room for your feet to swell and spread, especially in hot conditions. We didn’t feel like we lost power as a consequence, and having plenty of width up front meant we never suffered with numb feet like with some narrower fitting shoes. Those with wide feet will appreciate this extra space.
Once inside, the seamless interior and beautifully shaped insoles mean your feet sit pretty without socks. In fact, the TR60s are one of the comfiest tri shoes on the market right out of the box, and they fit true to size. In terms of weight (our size 42 came in at 266g) they’re not the lightest shoes out there but they definitely sit in the lightweight camp. With the TR60 Shimano have created their stiffest, comfiest and best-designed tri shoe to date. It performs on all levels and more than justifies it’s price tag.
Some small cuts on the sole but it does not affect the performance of the shoes..
