MAXXIS IKON Dual Compound 27.5” TIRE The Maxxis Ikon tire is for dedicated racers looking for a dedicated race tire. Shorter knobs in the center reduce rolling resistance while the higher side knobs provide plenty of grip while cornering those loose-over-hardpacked turns. By way of Maxxis's Dual Compound Technology, the Ikon consists of a base layer and an outer layer. The outer layer uses two compounds that are specifically formulated to lower rolling resistance and optimize tread-wear and traction, for better performance and a longer life-span. This select model of the Ikon which is an extremely cut-resistant, abrasion-resistant, densely woven fabric that’s added to the sidewalls to greatly reduce the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions, while remaining lightweight and flexible. As its name suggests, the Ikon represents all that is iconic in Cross Country mountain bike racing.
