Shimano XTR M952 is a high-end rear derailleur designed for mountain biking. It was introduced by Shimano in the late 1990s and quickly gained popularity among professional mountain bikers due to its lightweight construction smooth shifting performance and durability.
One of the standout features of the M952 rear derailleur is its rapid-rise technology. Unlike traditional rear derailleurs which move downward to shift into easier gears the rapid-rise design moves upward for faster and more precise shifting. This innovation provides smoother gear changes especially during intense shifts while climbing steep hills or navigating technical sections of a trail.
The XTR M952 rear derailleur is compatible with both 8 and 9-speed drivetrains allowing riders to utilize a wide range of gears for different types of terrain. It can handle a maximum sprocket size of 34 teeth and a minimum sprocket size of 11 teeth.
